I Want My RTV!

If, like Howard Beale in the 1976 movie Network, you're mad as hell and won't take it anymore when it comes to today's TV reality shows and other generally crappy programming, then I have good news for you (if you live in the United States.) There's a new station called the Retro Television Network that's been sweeping the country with retro goodness in the form of vintage TV shows including The Jack Benny Show, Emergency, The A-Team, Airwolf, Magnum PI and countless others. That's right - TV may be going digital today, but RTN seems to be answering the cry for quality programming. For a list of shows and to see if the channel runs on an affiliate station in your area, visit the site here. Check out the recent viewer mail to read the opinions of people like us who love retro shows and who are thrilled to finally have something worth watching again. Not only are people reliving their childhoods, they're introducing their children to some of their favorite old childhood shows, which is a good thing.

And by the way, here's that funny video clip of the "mad as hell" speech from Network; it's very relevant to what's taking place in the world today:

Amen! We have RTN and love it.
We also watch old shows via Netflix instant viewing.

We don't have cable or sat (an agreement my wife and I made when we got married), so we don't get this stuff, but we do have Netflix, so we get to catch up on a lot of older shows.
